Cooper- Welcome to math shorts. Colton-We are students’ from Mr. Ferrell’s class and we are going to teach you how to solve algebra problems. Jared- Why do we need to know how to solve algebra anyway? David- It helps you figure out what you don’t know. Cooper- There are a few vocabulary words you need to know. Colton- One of the words is Constant. David- A constant is a number that never changes. Jared- Another word is variable. Cooper- A variable is a number that does change. Colton- Ok lets get started.
Jared- My mom made 21 cupcakes the other day. My dad ate x amount. We have 15 left now. How many cupcakes did my dad eat? Colton- The variable here is x because x is a letter and it will change into a number. Cooper- The constants here are 21 and 15 because they will not change.
David- How do we solve this? Cooper- Okay so there is 21 cupcakes and Jared’s dad eats x amount and now there are 15 left. Colton- So we subtract 15 from 21 and we get six. Jared- So my dad ate six cupcakes. X=6

Cooper- The equation for this problem is 21=15+x

David- I hoped this helped you understand algebra. Cooper- Lets do a quick recap on what you just learned. Jared- A variable is a number that changes. Colton- The number 21 in the example problem is a variable. David- A constant is a number that doesn’t change. Cooper- The numbers 3 and 12 are constants in the example problem about Jared and the cupcakes. Jared- I hope you learned a lot and feel a lot smarter. Everyone- See you next time, bye.
